Q: How important are cosmetics vs. functionality? For example, if an app is delivered with good functionality but is visually less appealing, how will it be rated?

A: We have asked our judges to give equal weight to each of our judging criteria. We are seeking functional solutions to the challenges faced by super-utilizers that also inspire consumers to continue using the tool, so an intuitive user experience with strong visual aesthetic is desired. However, if a submission lacks visual appeal, but scores high marks for functionality, and the developer describes plans for improving the visual aesthetic in future iterations of the product, this will be taken into consideration by the judges.
